About Reese Alexiades

Reese "Superman" Alexiades is the Savannah Bananas' starting right fielder and the guy batting in a cape. He grew up in Manhattan Beach, California, graduated from Mira Costa High School in 2016 and played college ball at Pepperdine, where his final season produced a .389 average and first-team All-West Coast Conference honors.

No MLB team drafted him, so Alexiades went the independent route with the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League. Over three seasons (2021–2023) he hit .342 with 16 home runs and 120 RBI and was named Pioneer League MVP in 2023.

The Bananas found him on Instagram and invited him to a Los Angeles tryout with about 30 other players. He hit six home runs and ran through several of the team's dance routines, and head coach Tyler Gillum offered him a spot that night. He joined Savannah in 2024. Staff thought he looked like Clark Kent, which became the Superman character: custom capes in multiple colors with his name and No. 2 on the back. When the team played Angel Stadium he had more than 100 friends and family in the stands.

Alexiades is also one of the better pure athletes on the roster. In 2025 he homered in all four football stadiums the Bananas played, including a blast in front of 81,000 at Clemson's Memorial Stadium, and he is known for the "tornado catch," a full 360-degree spin before securing a fly ball. In 2026 he has been an everyday outfielder for Savannah with double-digit steals and 20-plus RBI by late summer; his live line is above.
